So there is a trend of blonde hair… I know, I know. I start my blonde journey almost 3 years ago, I’m one of them. It takes time if you don’t want to go bald, just to mention it cause is one of the risks if you bleach your hair and don’t give the proper treatments. I took the challenge, I didn’t know if I would survive. I will share some tips and experience so you can take advantage if you want to get blonde or are already blonde.
My Bumpy path
So I finally decided by 2015 that I wanted to get blonde… after 32 years being a brunette. Modeling doesn’t let you change your look that often so I decided that I want to do some changes and my hair was one of them and as they say: “A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life.” Coco Chanel. In my case, it was my hair color, but you get the idea right? So I schedule the first consultation. As I was ignorant in a kind of a way, I thought the blonde will be right there that day. I was so wrong. I had been on modeling for almost 20 years, and know some basic of hair and makeup, as I had learned on Fashion shoes, photoshoots etc.
Blonde hair is a long journey that involves a lot of money, professional maintenance hair products, and over it all excellent hair stylist. Find a stylist that knows what they are doing and have the knowledge of chemical products, for some people it has ended as a nightmare. Not everyone that says that they know something really knows it, they could have certifications but their work talks for them. My recommendation is that you should search for photos, reviews, and comments on their pages that way you can see what quality of work they give to clients.
My blonde journey
On my first visit it went a little light but nothing I could notice, yeah! is frustrating. The photo above only shows the changes for two or three months in between. I retouched my Ombre depending on the damage the hair was receiving, my stylist and I decided when to try again to keep bleaching the hair. So in between the months, I did a lot of homemade masks and some treatments so hair gets strong and can endure another bleaching process. My hair was really Dark Brown so accepting that fact and my stylist explained the process which helps me a lot with the depressing slow changes.
There is a lot of hair products out there, but choosing the right ones can make a huge difference on the health of your hair. For blondes and colored hairs is recommended sulfate free shampoos and conditioners. The one I recommend is Pravana The perfect Blonde. Both the shampoo and conditioner had worked for me without any problem, I try other Purple products to eliminate the “brassiness” but this one is my favorite so far.
Some of the highlights of this product:
- Dual ultra-violet dye system purifies and neutralizes unwanted yellow tones.
- Kick Brass with this Purple Toning Conditioner for Blonde, Silver or Highlighted Hair.
- Optical brighteners protect and enhance blonde radiance.
Olaplex the Bond Repair
I would say this is a miracle maker. Is the perfect repairing product for damaged or colored hair, I use it in two ways; As a treatment that I leave for 10 minutes and as a leave-in depending on how the hair needs it.
Some of the highlights of this product:
- Addresses damaged and compromised hair
- Strengthens and protects hair structure
- Restores healthy appearance and texture No. 3 Hair Perfector, it’s an at-home treatment that contains the same active ingredient found in all professional Olaplex products.
L’Oréal Paris Elvive Total Repair 5 Damage-Erasing Balm
- Both powerful and luxurious, this hair treatment for damaged hair instantly repairs the 5 signs of damage – split ends, weakness, roughness, dullness, and dehydration.
- Reverses damage to hair’s smoothness with daily use.
- Hair is smoother, more manageable and beautifully shiny.
- Easy to use hair mask strengthens damaged hair in just 3-5 minutes.
Hope this tips help you along with your new blonde change or if you already are blonde as they said: “Blondes have more fun” in my case I didn’t have that much fun waiting on my hair to get blonde but after 3 years in the making, it all worht it!!!
