Before my trip to New York a few years ago, I had seen and heard about the amazing Times Square billboards and digital screens in so many movies before, but I had never visited Times Square for myself, to see it with my own eyes. My fiance (now my husband) and I decided that instead of spending money on birthdays, Christmas, and anniversaries, we wanted to travel instead – you know, spending money on memories instead of things. We decided in November of 2017 to start that journey and we made New York City our first stop. We planned to spend New Year’s Eve in New York City and their Times Square Digital Screens & Billboards Paradise, and it was a blast! It was a different experience and it was definitely the best gift for both of us, instead of getting items for each other that we would only use for a few months.
Our New York Vacations started
We didn’t do it like everyone else, though – we first visited my mom at her house in Maryland and from there, we took a bus directly to New York City. It was about a 4-hour trip, or so, but it was worth every second of it. When we arrived in the city, we were dropped off at 5th Ave., and then we took an Uber to get to our hotel, Hotel Indigo, which is a Boutique Hotel in Manhattan that is a piece of art itself. We figured that if we stopped there first, we could go ahead and get check-in out of the way and drop our bags off so that we could start walking around. We arrived on Friday and New Year’s Eve was the next day — that Saturday, so although we tried to visit Times Square that day, it was almost impossible to access because of the crowds, so we headed back to our hotel that day and planned to visit the famous Times Square digital screens & billboard paradise the next day.
When we finally got around to visiting, it was just like walking into a movie scene. We took an Uber to get from Manhattan to Times Square and it was absolute chaos – everything was insanely crazy, but we didn’t care: the experience was superb. Before you see that many billboards and digitals at once, you never really think about how they are made, or what technology goes into making them or getting them up in the air. All you think about is the fact that they are big, bright, and beautiful. They were just so impressive!
